2010 Clif Family Winery Climber Limited Release Red Blend Napa Valley 750 mL Description
The grapes for the 2010 Climber Limited Release, red wine blend came from five vineyards located throughout the Napa Valley including our Howell Mountain Estate Vineyard, Clark Claudon in Pope Valley, Oak Knoll, Rutherford and Saint Helena. This marks the first wine we release using grapes from our Howell Mountain Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Vineyard. The 2010 vintage was a challenging one with difficulties of early rain, dry spells and then late rain. But creating a unique flavor profile. Each vintage, the blend for the Climber Limited Release is slightly different, with its own unique story. This is our winemaker's favorite wine to make as he can take what varietals grew best and compose the best blend from a particular vintage. The 2010 blend is 63% Merlot from Oak Knoll and 37% Cabernet Sauvignon from Pope Valley, Howell Mountain, Rutherford and St. Helena. The wine was aged in 80% new and 20% second filled French oak that included a medium to heavy toast for 18 months.
