This wine is from Australia, South Australia region, Limestone Coast sub-region and Padthaway appellation. Henrys Drive Vignerons was founded in 1992 by Kim Longbottom and her late husband Mark in Padthaway, South Australia.The winemaking team is headed by Renae Hirsch with the support of Kim Jackson as consulting winemaker. Renae bringsover a decade of experience, having held winemaking positions in France, Germany, the United States and Australia. 500acres are planted with Shiraz, Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Verdelho on soils that rangefrom limestone over sandy ridges to rich, red loam.. 57% Shiraz/43% Cab Sauvignon). The vines are between 10-13 years old, and are grown in sandy loam overlimestone on the hillside and red loamy soil over limestone on the flat. Fermented on its skins for 5-7 days withpump overs four times/day, the wine was pressed and fermented for 15-16 months in oak hogsheads andbarriques (60% American and 40% French; 60% neutral and 40% new). Sourced from eight differentvineyards - six of Shiraz and two for the Cabernet, each parcel was vinified separately and blended justbefore bottling.. A ripe and fleshy red displaying cherry and brambly fruit, mixed with Asian spices, dried herbsand hints of fennel.
